Why update?
When you load your collection after you have stored it on a previous session, there may have occurred some changes to your files in the meantime. It could be that you deleted some, or that you moved some to another directory. Or perhaps you have added files or folders.
Per default, ABC-View will do a check of your files, called Auto Verify. This is however just a check to see if the files in the collection are still there. It will not detect any new files that were added later.
What happens when I run "scan folders"?
When you run "scan folders", the folders in the collection are scanned again, and the contents compared to what files are in the collection. Any new files are added to the collection. Files that disappeared are removed from the collection. Files that have updated (filedate changed) will also be updated in the collection.
Tell me how!
·
After loading your collection, you just click on the small scan folders icon.
·
If you want to just scan one folder, you can click on the refresh icon (F5). This will do a scan for the folder that is selected. When you have a file selected, the folder containing the file will be scanned.
·
The scan progress is shown on the status bar.
That's it! Once that it has completed, you will have a completely up to date collection.
